Brother D takes a short movie-watching-and-reviewing break in Episode 186 of Mail Order Zombie, but that leaves room for a book review from Silent Death when he visits Dust by Joan Frances Turner.  Need-a-Nickname Scott dips his toes into the news with the Zombie Beat, Don Coscarelli tells us a bit about John Dies at the End and we go back to Crypticon Seattle for the panel "Zombies Can’t Run & Vampires Don’t Sparkle: The Psychology of Why We Argue Over What Fictional Things Can Or Can’t Do" with Eloise J. Knapp, Chris Saint, Steve Holetz, and Michael Montoure (with Brother D moderating).  Miss Bren does her best to keep everyone on track during the Feedback Discussion, and the band H2Awesome! swings by with the song "Carl, Stay in the House."

Four score and a freakshow ago, Mail Order Zombie brought forth two more zombie movie reviews in Episode 183 of Mail Order Zombie.  Brother D visits the sideshow when he reviews Freakshow Apocalypse: The Unholy Sideshow (dir. Matthew Broomfield), then revisits one of his favorite sub-sub-sub-genres: zombie Civil War stores with a review of Abraham Lincoln vs. Zombies (dir. Richard Schenkman).  There's more than movie reviews in this MOZ episode, though.  Markus Taylor, the man behind the zombie known as Cheese from the zombie movie DeadHeads (dir. Brett Pierce & Drew T. Pierce), drops by for an interview about his work in DeadHeads, his other projects and the upcoming DeadHeads Cheese prequel.  Devil Dinosaur, Jr., from the Dread Media podcast gives us a review of the novel Ladies Night by Jack Ketchum.  And we start our recounting Seattle Crypticon 2012 when we chat with writers Gareth Wood and Jessica Meigs.  After the Feedback with Miss Bren (which includes a very special announcement!), we have a recording of the panel "Zombies: Why the F@!$ Won't They Die?!" with panelists John Skipp (moderator), Scott Baker, Craig DiLouie, Gareth Wood, Derek M. Koch, Rick Reeves, Mark Rahner.

Need-a-Nickname Scott & Tracey bring us another recording from the Famous Monsters of Filmland from earlier this year. This time around, they bring us the panel devoted to the Dead Letter Award-winning documentary Autopsy of the Dead. If you listen closely, you'll get to hear Scott even ask the panel a question or two (but, oddly enough, he doesn't ask about the naked zombie - go figure). Also, Professor Chad is back with a new Zombie Aptitude Test question for the MOZ Family.

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 167.5 - Zombies! panel from Crypticon Seattle

Download Mail Order Zombie #167.5 here!

We're dipping back into the Crypticon well with Episode 167.5 of Mail Order Zombie. This week, Brother D presents a recording from the Zombies! panel. It was a sort of free-for-all panel that took place Saturday night across the hall from the Saturday night loud-music-and-booze-filled party, so it sounds like there's a LOT more excitement happening in the room than they might have really been. Or not. Listen, and you decide. On the panel were Brother D, Eric Pope, Reverend en Fugue, Steven J. Holetz, Timothy W. Long and Mark Rahner.

Writers S. M. Stirling, Michael Z. Williamson, Christopher Golden, Scott Sigler and Dead Letter Award-winner Jonathan Maberry participate in the Writer's Apocalyptic Super Panel where they discuss their books, their unique approaches to the apocalypse (post- and otherwise), zombies, epidemics, Homeland Security and alien invasions.

While the Mail Order Zombie crew recovers from last week's Dead Letter Awards, why don't you sit back and enjoy a chat with Zombie Number One? The movie River of Darkness is hitting DVD shelves at the end of March, and playing against type in the movie is Bill Hinzman, who joined Derek for a discussion about the movie as well as his role in zombiedom. After this interview, we go back in time to 2008 to join Jonathan Maberry, Dennis Tafoya, Edward Pettit and Tony Finan for a panel discussion about our favorite subject. (This panel was conducted when Maberry's Zombie CSU: The Forensics of the Living Dead was hitting shelves, and was recorded by The Matt Hatter.) And remember - we're still accepting answers for the current Zombie Aptitude Question!

The classic Romero film Day of the Dead is the topic dejour of Episode 150 of Mail Order Zombie (as is Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs)! Miss Bren finally sat down to watch the third film in the ...Dead franchise (it's the fourth ...Dead film she's watched, fifth if you count Shaun..., but that's not really a Romero film so nevermind!), and she joins Brother D to discuss the movie. Brother D resurrects the review he produced of the film's soundtrack album (from way back in Episode 53), and Need-a-Nickname Scott - when he's not dishing the news in the Zombie Beat - takes a look at the original screenplay for the film. A few friends of the show and Mail Order Zombie Family Members also call in their thoughts on the film. And because Brother D both called Miss Bren's bluff and had his own bluff called, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs also gets the Mail Order Zombie treatment (and the Family Movie Night podcast helped out with that!). After the Feedback Discussion (was that . . . Honeydew . . . ?), we'll flash black to this past summer's Famous Monsters of Filmland Convention for the Day of the Dead panel (featuring Mark Tierno, Terry Alexander, Gary Klar, Joe Pilato, Michael Gornick; moderated by Billy Graham) courtesy of Need-a-Nickname Scott and his wife Tracey.

With apologies to those looking forward to the scheduled review of Redneck Carnage, we apologize. Dr. J is back with a new installment of Dr. J's Med of the Dead (in which he assures us K. K. is doing well!), and Need-a-Nickname Scott and Tracey? They spent last weekend at the first Famous Monsters Convention, and in this first of two installments of their convention report, they break down some of the panels they attended, they interview actor Sal Lizard, talk about artist Sam Flegal and point us all in the direction of The Zombie Rights Campaign.

It's been requested, so in this week's episode of Mail Order Zombie, Cemetery Man, aka Dellamorte Dellamore, gets its Headshot(s) review. And consider yourselves warned - there are some spoilers here (of course, the movie is over fifteen years old, so the statute of limitations on Spoiler Warnings may have expired!). Last month's Zombie Aptitude Test questions are reviewed, and we'e already started receiving answers for this month's ZAT (Undead Karaoke, baby!). Also, we got to talk with author Timothy W. Long (The Zombie Wilson Diaries and The Apocalypse and Satan's Glory Hole). Add a little Miss Bren and Need-a-Nickname Scott, and a Crypticon Seattle recording in which we talk about obscure zombie movies (and a brief meandering about Labyrinth in which Brother D mentions Jennifer Connelly and Miss Bren DOESN'T immediately slug him), and you've got Episode 128 of MOZ.
